This rotation, along with those of the next two years constitutes the core training requirements mandated by the faculty of Psychiatry. PGY-2 through PGY-5 residents will also obtain psychotherapy training through supervision and seminars in long-term and short-term psychodynamic therapy, including cognitive-behavior therapy, and interpersonal therapy, multi-person therapies including <g class=\"gr_ gr_85 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar only-ins doubleReplace replaceWithoutSep\" id=\"85\" data-gr-id=\"85\">couple<\/g>, family and group therapy.<br> Post Graduate Year 2 (PGY-2) fully embraces psychiatry training. The goal of this year is to lay down a foundation of knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of acutely and chronically ill psychiatric patients. Residents become proficient in the assessment of patients in a variety of settings and become familiar with the fundamental treatment modalities now available to psychiatrists.<br> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Clinical Rotations<br><\/strong> Each PGY-2 trainee in Psychiatry will have a member of the Faculty in the role of mentor<br> throughout the year for the purpose of discussion, advice and other matters pertaining to their training and career.<br> Residents will spend 12 months in the General Psychiatry Unit (GPU), based at the Kuwait Center for Mental Health (KCMH), which consists of covering both inpatient and outpatient services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Half-Day Of Academics Each Week<br><\/strong> Throughout the year, our PGY-2 trainees will be given an academic half-day every week on<br> Thursdays.
